The Mysterious Mr. Greene

South Carolina has again proven itself to be a stellar state, upholding the highest of standards, rising above the fray... Uh, not so quickly. If the Luv Guv's "hiking the Appalachian trail" first catapulted my home state into the Hall of Shame for politics, we then had a follow-up with the brouhaha surrounding the Nikki Haley allegations from Will Folks and some other sorry political hack in SC. Then of course, not to be outdone, Sen Knott's infamous "Raghead" comment on Pub Politics helped to keep the Palmetto State front and center.

Now, at least the Democrats of my fine state have their own little fracas. Enter stage right - Alvin Greene. Poor sap decides to run for Senate. Somehow gets the filing fee. Somehow does nothing much to campaign. And somehow wins. Yep, beats almost as little known Vic Rawl (Really, outside of the Lowcountry, do you think you could find 15 democrats in the upstate or midlands who know of Vic Rawl? Did he even campaign?). Regardless, Alvin Greene wins... and wins big! Crush the mighty (cough, cough) Vic Rawl. And now the Dems are crying foul and trying to figure out what happened. Poor Mr. Greene is now covered in South Carolina political mud, and well, it's just a mess.

This video from Jon Stewart's The Daily Show explains it all... much better than anywhere else I've seen. And you get to laugh... a lot. I'm so writing in Grit Gravybiscuit next election.
